"Shine in Nine" steak dance

What?
New Years Eve Steak Dance

Where? Ammon Foothill Stake Center (3934 E 49th S, Idaho Falls, Bonneville, Idaho 83406)

When? Today at 9:00 pm until Midnight!

Why? Because trust me, if your really want to have fun, go to the steak dance, skip out on the Z103 one, trust me I went to that one last year, albeit it was fun, it really was, JUST not half as fun as steak dances, I know you may be looking at this sentence shaking your head, saying to yourself, "no, no... how can it be true?" but the truth is, volume, AKA, the amount of people who come to a dance isn't what makes it fun, no sir, not in the least, I would much rather not go to a place where No dancing (mostly) or dancing your grandmother would be offended by are done regularly. As gangster as I am, as much as I like to wear hats that double as plates, I would much rather be in an environment where people are happy to let loose a little you know? have fun! Maybe even smile! Who knows!

I don't know if this is a "ballroom" ball, that would probably be a good thing to find out, Sadly, I haven't heard much more than the E-mail I received. My notes:
This should be fun, My guess it's aimed slightly more twards adults, they complained before of having teens who wheren't repsecting the property, which I think is code for running on their beautiful hardwood dance floors. They really won't tolerate anyone with sneekers or any dirty shoe on their floor, you may look at the bottom of your shoe, see no dirt, but they don't take it quite like that, they pretty much want shoes devoted strictly to dance or no shoes (that's my experiance and I do take a ballroom classes there)
ALSO

on a different note, I heard about a dance that is a maskerade ball at dance tech, january 9th 2009 (next month)

[HOWTO] Awsome Lindy Hop Vids

You know what? This isn't one of those, "Hey there's a dance" posts, why? because I haven't got permission to post it on my blog yet. But! hopefully they will answer my e-mail soon, in the meantime, I would like to show you guys some awesome videos that I have found in my ballroom searching habit, some are really good!

First off, we have these Lindy Hop instructional clips.

Quite frankly, the instruction here is awesome, but there's a trick, and I can't push this hard enough: YOU WON'T LEARN IF YOU DON'T GET UP AND DANCE. Yeah I know you just came to this blog thinking no dancing was required, no standing for that matter, no moving, no exercise, no life, BUT! you where sadly mistaken! (except for the last one, depending on how you define "life")

Lindy Hop Basics from iDance
So stand up, right now, Yup you heard me, stand up, nope, yeah sure that's real funny, just laugh at the screen, say to yourself what you may but geting better requires action, here and now, and yes these videos aren't the quick and easy way, BUT they are great advice that really works and results is what matters right?

Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Did you do it? Good, now we've experienced something, you feel better about yourself huh, chest puffed up in pride and all that. As for you sitters, I hope your hiding your face in shame.

Second we have some incentive to learn/get better at Lindy Hop
I apologize that the girl is immodest in her dress, but it's just too good dancing to not show.

NOTE: Do not try lifts without a trained spotter

Soapbox alert

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usQuickFo:
What? Hillcrest School Sadie Hawkins
When? This Saturday 8:30pm-11:30pm
Date? It's Best, Ladies choice
Dress? Casual
Dancing? Well that's debatable, which I shall do right now

the reason I really haven't posted anything for a while is because I'm truly not aware of any dances that are going on this week, apart from the Hillcrest one this Saturday. I know that it's called a dance but the problem I find is that, what I call dancing doesn't seem to be the same thing as what they do at a dance.
The Typical Dance

~jumping up and down in front of the speakers concert style,
~gangsta' style moves
~the part that is censored above not so easy for my brain
~people who simply stand there and have no clue what to do,
~"wallflowers"

and that pretty much makes up the entire dance, with a couple of dancer exceptions.

But the reason for this I believe is that school dances are systematically flawed, and I'll tell you the reasons why, one no dance instruction insures total ignorance right from the get go, two Rap and slow mushy songs dominate, Three school dances are all about going on a date which means only one partner per person, Four the atmosphere of the school cafeteria is very exiting, and five No WMCA, seriously, just give the people what they want.

And now I can get off my soap box and join the rest of the world.

Stake dance tonight!

There's a stake dance going down tonight! Short notice? Heck yeah! (everything sounds better if you say heck yeah even if it's really lame)
Here's the QuickFo:

Where? Mountain View Building (1459 Mountian View Lane)

My notes: Although these aren't strictly ballroom dances (not even close), ballroom dancers do go usually... aka, me. Sometimes other people go too! I've found them, you can usually find someone who knows a little cha-cha, or the waltz basic. It's usually pretty fun, you can get your line dance on.

No December Villa Dance.

Mark, the person that hosts for the villa swing dance (talked about in the previous post) told me today that they will not be having a dance in December, but the next one will be in January.

I admit, that I'm a bit disappointed but then again it is pretty close to the holidays and people do get busy around then.
just wanted to tell you guys,

December Villa dance (NEXT IN JANUARY ACTUALLY)

Description: Yeah I know, December January is sort of a long time away, it's true, but all the same, you really can't miss this opportunity, so get ready for this, just say to yourself, "I will not miss the fun of the swing night at the Villa, because I wish to have fun, meet people, get exercise and meet new people" (now you should really be doing this by the way, look in a mirror if it helps, saying it in a passionately concerned tone, you can even imagine your on some medicine ad if that helps the imagery).

But anyway, I'm not even joking, I went last time and I seriously think that it was the funnest dance I have ever been to. How many people where there? let's see... about five people my age and about five adults (not all of them even danced) do you think that stopped us from having fun? Heck no! With high tempo swing music blasting we lindyed, Charlestoned, and swinged the night away, all left with smiles on our faces, not one person wasn't comeing away from it saying, "We HAVE to do that again" Oh yeah, another interesting note, we had more guys then girls this last time, what's up with that? So girls! Don't be shy I know that your out there and love to dance, recommended you'll get asked by many guys.

I'll have to get some footage of the swing dance with my phone next time so you guys can see how awesome it is, no promises though.

I could simply, rant and rave about it and you could just sit there, and think, Oh my gosh, this kid is crazy? seriously how fun could it be? but what can I say? I'm not getting payed or anything, I just love dance and I think you'd enjoy it too.

Hey for all you people that are somewhat under educated, get ready for the funnest education you've ever got as you see how Lindy hop should truly be done.

These are professionals I admit, but all the same, it's lindy, and you don't need to be near that good, to enjoy it.

By the way, this dance is every 2nd Saturday (exempt this December) from 6 to 9pm at the villa Coffeehouse, casual dress, $2 a person 3$ a couple.

See you there,
-Mr.Brightside

Opening Day! For the most part!

Hey Dancers, Today I'm pretty much ready to say this site, like it?

Okay, so what is this thing?

Basically just a blog which you can get info, for about any dance that's going on in Idaho falls, or other near areas. After all what good is ballroom dancing skill without places to do it at!

Wait, these dances are only for ballroom dancers?
Depends on the dance, most that are posted here are going to be pretty much only for ballroom dance, but if you don't know how to dance almost always there is somebody that is willing to teach. Seriously. Don't be shy! Put some dust on that TV!

Just Dance,
-Mr.Brightside

New blog, maybe

I've just had an idea that it would be cool to make a blog where everyone could see what's happening in Idaho with ballroom, after all where can you go to find all the latest dances where you can show off your skill? What are the teams doing? What can I do to improve my self as a partner and individual dancer?

This just might be the place to find out...
